Like a challenge? Try Via Ferrata!

I admit, Playa Muchavista is not the go-to-place for via ferrata, but you do not have to travel far. Be aware that you need your own equipment when you go, I have not found any where you can rent equipment and get receive guiding. The required equipment is available at Dechatlon and similar stores in the area.

So far I have just tested two of the via ferrata tracks in the neighborhood – and they were very different:

1 The first one was close to the town of Villena, a 45 minute drive from Alicante. The track starts just of A-31 and the access by car is convenient. When the car is parked the walk to access the via ferrata takes approximately 45 minutes, the same amount of time you should estimate for the exit. The route itself takes approximately one hour and thirty minutes. All of this depending on your physical condition and skills. There are some really great views along the route and also when you get to the top.

2 The second route we tested was a little bit disappointing as it was very short, but the climb itself was quite fun. The via ferrata is located in a park just outside Albir. The via ferrata is actually built in an old quarry. The track is steep but short. It is good for practicing and it is easy to go through many times. In the week end you can also expect to have an audience when you climb. Some of you may like that?
